Retired Northrop Aviation CEO Tom Jones chose to plant wine grapes on his vast Bel Air, CA property and pursue his wine hobby instead of subdividing and selling the land. Jones, who has four bottled commercial vintages, has spent over $2 million for his Moraga vineyard.

Sangiovese from the ground up

California vintners are planning on planting more Sangiovese and are trying various microclimates and grape clones. The grape is easily grown but often produces wines of poor character if not grown properly. It is often blended with other grapes.
