The wine known to most of the world as Syrah is called Shiraz in Australia, and it can best be compared to a California Zinfandel. Australia is producing some good Shiraz, and prices tend to be $8 to $15 a bottle. Shiraz and Shiraz-Cabernet blends are rated.
