California Syrah's big push

The versatility of the Syrah grape introduced to California from the Rhone Valley in France that continues to produce excellent wines even surpassing some French wines is reported. Ratings of wines produced in the vintage year 2005 from the Syrah grapes along with the price are included.

Trivial pursuits in California

Most California wineries do not own their own vineyards. Neither do they grow their own grapes. The state's best wines are Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, although the state's dessert wines are also excellent. Additional facts are provided.
