Can fish oil maintain Crohn's disease in remission?
Article Abstract:
Preliminary evidence suggests that enteric-coated fish oil supplements or dietary fish oils may be helpful in maintaining patients with Crohn's disease in periods free of disease characteristics. Studies have not been completed to determine whether to replace currently recommended drug maintenance treatments with fish oil. There appear to be fewer side effects reported with fish oils than the recommended maintenance drug treatments.

Short-chain fatty acids in ulcerative colitis
Article Abstract:
Use of topical short chain fatty acids (SCFA) appears to be a promising treatment for mild to moderate distal ulcerative colitis. Low side effects, cost and anticarcinogenic properties also distinguish this approach as a viable alternative option for maintaining distal ulcerative colitis in remission.
