Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the weight perceptions, weight loss practices and beliefs about health and diet by Lakota Indian adults. A sample of 219 adults hailing from two reservations in North Dakota participated in interviews. Results suggest that majority of Lakota adults were aware of their obesity and are attempting to lose weight by eating more fruits and vegetables and increasing their physical activity.
