The travel on back roads south to the heart of Appalachia on a lonely two-lane stretch of the Lincoln Highway, America's first transcontinental motor route is described. Appalachia is famous for Virginia-made quilts, Oak Grove Meadows creamery, and Tennessee's Blackberry Farm cottages among other things. Some recipes, like buttermilk biscuits and sorghum butter, adapted from Blackberry Farm are presented.
