The dietary lysine requirement of juvenile hybrid striped bass
Article Abstract:
The effects of a lysine-rich diet on weight gain of hybrid striped bass was determined by incorporating different amounts of the amino acid in standard diets. The results showed that the amount of lysine in the diet has a direct effect on weight gain. The daily requirement of this essential amino acid was calculated at 1.4 grams per 100 g incorporated in dry diet. The ratio of lipid and carbohydrate content of diet did not affect the level of lysine utilization.

Voluntary intake, milk production and plasma metabolites in nursing mares fed two different diets
Article Abstract:
The effects of diets rich in hay or concentrates in mares at the early stage of lactation were investigated. The diets consisted of either 95% hay and 5% concentrates (diet F) or 50% hay and 50% concentrates (diet C). The results showed that the mares preferred diet C over diet F, and tended to overingest both diet types. Diet type did not alter milk secretion significantly, but different diets did result in differences in mild composition.
