A former president and five-star general recalls his childhood in Abilene, KS. The first-remembered house was a small cottage, but soon the family of eight moved to a two-bedroom house, which seemed spacious by comparison. Pleasures were simple, and chores were numerous.

Boalsburg, PA, is the unofficial birthplace of the Memorial Day celebrations. Consequently, the townspeople make their annual celebrations both colorful and memorable. The celebrations have grown to include tours of restored colonial houses and art exhibits.
