Ellington's close friendship with Strayhorn has been the subject of much speculation. While it is acknowledged that Ellington's relationship with the composer was built primarily around their collaborative musical output, rumors about the two jazz greats abound if only because Strayhorn was gay.

An account is presented of the relationship between early 60's music icons Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. Their professional partnership began when Baez brought Dylan on stage at the 1963 Newport Folk Festival and became acclaimed with their appearance at Freebody Park.
