Americans should honor the service and valor shown by US troops sent to peacekeeping missions in Bosnia. The American Legion's Family Support Network contributes to this goal by helping troops and their families cope with various emergencies, including short-term financial difficulties.

Americans should celebrate their freedom

Many Americans fail to see the importance of citizenship and freedom as seen in the senators who protested against the bill for the protection of the American flag. The passage of the 'G.I. Bill of Health' could improve veterans's health care, and support for the troops in Bosnia.

Women in the military should be recognized for their contributions to the defense and protection of their country. Military women like their male counterparts have also suffered the aftermaths of war such as the Gulf War syndrome.
