Japan's economy is growing despite the recession, primarily because its citizens are willing to subordinate their individuality to a common purpose. Their unquestioning acceptance of authority provides Japan's source of strength, but some critics also see it as a great danger.

Fractured vision
Article Abstract:
US foreign policy toward Japan is inconsistent and uncoordinated. A strong US industrial policy must be put in place before trade problems with Japan can be resolved. Bilateral cooperation in foreign aid and military matters is essential.
