Antiques and collectibles: Navajo textiles
Article Abstract:
Navajo textiles were seen as a status symbol and were traded among tribes all across the plains in the US in 1800s. The Navajo weavings were classified into four phases, namely the Early Classic Period, the Classic Period, the Transition Period and the Revival Period, during which they became commercialized and prized art collections.

The towns of Hallowell and Searsport in Maine have a feud dating to the late 19th century when Searsport lost boatbuilding business to Hallowell. Today both are vying for the state's leadership in the antiques trade.
