Are Americans greedy?

Total contributions to charity totaled $102 billion in the 1980s, higher than what was predicted. It was also in the 1980s that Americans had a solid economy and many cuts in taxes. It would seem, therefore, that the more take home pay a person receives, the more he would share it with others.

Absurdities in American society can sometimes be astounding. For instance, half the students at Ivy League colleges cannot name their home-state senators. Another example of these absurdities is University of California at Santa Barbara's policy to have students take a course on pornography.
