50 years of the Australian Constitution
Article Abstract:
The Australian Constitution began as a statute of British Parliament enacted in 1901. It is a system dependent on federalism which produces a weak government that works for the good of the people. Compromise and patience are needed where political issues turn into legal disputes. The achievements of Australia come from its claim that the Constitution is an instrument of progress.

The making of a president: Ireland's model for Australia?
Article Abstract:
As Australia debates whether to become a republic and have a head of state without executive power, it has two models to use as examples. The head of state can be chosen by the people or by the majority of parliament. The Irish Constitution is presented to show an example of how the powers of the head of state can be successfully limited through the Constitution.
