Big banks: New law gave rise to one-stop financial service industry in America
Article Abstract:
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 has created the one-stop financial service industry in the United States by eliminating Depression-era financial regulations. Large and diverse financial services companies will be able to provide more efficient services on a global scale. Consumers can purchase insurance, securities and banking products from one company.

Small banks: Community banks recycle dollars in their local economies
Article Abstract:
Consolidation in the banking industry has left 84% of banking assets with 315 of the largest banks. This leaves 16% of the assets to the 8,000 community banks. Community banks are able to manage the financial resources of a community by investing in local businesses and by offering specialized customer service.
