Blaming the Bundesbank

Hans Tietmeyer became president of the Deutsche Bundesbank on Oct 1, 1993, and will continue Germany's policy of slowly lowering interest rates. He will not, however, significantly improve strained economic relations with the European Community, whose economies have gone into recession because of Germany's high interest rates.
