A remnant of cold-war politics is evident in the insinuations that terrorist hijacker Mohamed Atta was a homosexual. Common practice during the height of cold-war communist paranoia was to discredit communist sympathizers by portraying them as weak, feminine personalities, easily dominated by women in their lives.
