Could the red wolf be a mutt?
Article Abstract:
Genetic research by Robert K. Wayne and Susan M. Jenks has raised the possibility that the red wolf may not be a true species. Hybrid species are not protected by the Endangered Species Act. Wayne says his work is being misinterpreted, but the recovery program for the red wolf may be scaled back.
