An Associated Press poll shows that 60 percent of Americans favor a mandatory retirement age for federal judges, a limit on what is a lifeterm term of service. Edward Lazarus, a former federal prosecutor, feels that a limited tenure for federal judges will reduce the incentive of picking younger nominees, some of whom lack the experience and accumulated wisdom that should be the hallmark of judicial appointees.

The sinking of the troop carrier USAT Dorchester by a German submarine in Greenland was one of the worst sea disasters of World War II. The experiences of four chaplains that include a priest, a rabbi and two ministers as told by Dan Kurzman in his book "No Greater Glory" is presented.

Courts have struck down laws against flag desecration as unconsititutional, making a flag amendment the only way to protect the US flag. Letters from two constitutional scholars to Sen Mitch McConnell supporting this view are presented.
