Exodus from Haiti
Article Abstract:
The people of Petit-Trou-di-Nippes, Haiti decided to send some of their best men and women to Miami, FL, to find jobs and send back money to the village. Just a day and half into their voyage they were stopped by by the Coast Guard and taken to Guantanamo Bay. Most were eventually returned to Haiti.

Lost boys of the Sudan
Article Abstract:
War in the Sudan has left many boys orphaned or abandoned. They wander the countryside, gathering leaves and unripe fruit and sometimes capturing small rodents to eat. They gather in camps that provide little shelter, no food and no medical care. Malnourished, they die of simple illnesses.

One of the major events of 1991 was the Persian Gulf War. While it only lasted 43 days, the effects will be felt for a long time. Even after the cease fire, Kurdish refugees suffered. Evocative photos detail events.
