The American Legion urges legislators to minimize speeches on gulf war veteran's health and start doing something tangible. The criticisms made White House appoint a panel to make research on the Gulf War illnesses. Roughly 80,000 sick veterans have been put through medical exams, since their return from the Gulf.

Dr. Rostker leads the US government's medical research campaign on possible health problems and environmental risks faced by US soldiers in the Gulf War. He says the Defense Department's main culpability is its failure to immediately ascertain what the veterans may or may not have been exposed to.

The Presidential Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans is investigating the possibility that chemical weaponry was released after the bombing of the Kamisiyah bunker complex during the Gulf War. Around 5,000 troops within 25 km. of the hunker may have been exposed to chemical fallout.
