Flag protection opponents cling to empty excuses
Article Abstract:
A large majority of the US Senate is sending flag amendment to the states for its approval by representatives of the people, but a few swing senators are coming up with old excuses for stifling a uniquely democratic process of constitutional lawmaking. The excuses given by the swing senators for curbing the flag-protection amendment are discussed.

Towards purposeful dissent
Article Abstract:
The events leading to the proposal of the amendment of Flag Protection Act of 1989 are highlighted. It is questioned whether such an amendment would really damage civil liberties but it turns out that the flag amendment would not limit freedom of speech very much at all.
