The growing number of New England farmers are turning the worst lands into one of the best ones only with the help of an age-old technique, grazing. While grazing and foraging deliver the natural diet of sheep, cows, pigs, and even poultry, modern conventions dictate that livestock be confined, fed large quantities of grain, and dosed with antibiotics and hormones to enable rapid weight gain.
