The 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics has become the center of controversy with the projected marketing participation of 45 companies. These companies are paying $5 million to $40 million for rights to use the Olympic rings in advertising. The Atlanta Games organizers fear the huge number of firms involved would result in advertising clutter.
