Carol Sheilds the author of numerous books including nine novels and two plays and The Stone Diaries which fetched her the Pulitzer Prize in 1995 and her work is described. Sheilds feels that parents should show their children that they are putting their extra money into books instead of an expensive dinner out and children will pay attention to it.
