The country home belonging to the von Ranson family in the Wendell State Forest in Massachusetts is about as secluded as a home can be, two miles off a seasonal road. Writer Jonathan von Ranson built the home himself, though now he and his wife are moving to town. He is asking $150,000.

Mert and my bear

A resident 'adopts' a brown bear that wandered through his neighborhood foraging for food but later learns that his bear was shot dead. Mert Coleman, and old and popular resident of the village, shot the bear after it destroyed his bird feeders and threatened his bee hives.
