Judicial jackpot: Frivolous lawsuits cost Americans more than just money
Article Abstract:
There is rampant filing of frivolous lawsuits in the US and even though federal judges could impose severe financial sanctions against lawyers and clients for filing frivolous lawsuits, a reform movement softened the standards by 1993, paving the way for a loosened legal grip on frivolous suits. The suits represent an abuse of the original intent of the system that the average American pays in soaring insurance premiums and pass along costs to consumers.
