Dawn Marie Birnbaum, a 17-year-old ward of Indiana, met her untimely death near Spring Township, PA, where her body was found. However, it was also in this civic-minded community with two-century-old roots that Birnbaum's murderer, James Robert Cruz Jr., was tracked down and sentenced to life.

Three women tourists, a mother and her daughters from northwestern Ohio, were found dead on Tampa Bay on Jun 4, 1989. Tampa, FL, investigators later learned that the women were invited by the killer, Oba Chandler, to a sunset cruise, during which he apparently killed and threw them overboard.
