Dialysis or diffusion?
Article Abstract:
Dialysis is a specific process which should not be interchangeably used with diffusion. Dialysis involves separation of small from large molecules using a semipermeable membrane and is different from diffusion which entails the exchange of solutes between the cell and the pipette. However, the idea of dialysis is given a broader meaning in the use of the nystatin patch which allows the transfer of molecules through the semipermeable membrane produced by nystatin between the cell and the pipette.
