Mary's Farm: the name of the rose

Mary's farm showed rosebush that grew on the post-and-rail fence out front when it was bought by the author. The William Baffin rose, one of the hardy roses that grew on the fence in Mary's garden, named for an Artic explorer who ventured into forbidding climates and took root.
