Student buy into the power of books
Article Abstract:
Douglas Alternative Elementary, an open-enrollment literature-based school in Ohio has a library with more than 6,000 books, which serves as the school's hub and has wide-open areas instead of traditional classrooms. A parent volunteer created the Douglas Book Exchange (DBX) wherein the students can buy gently used books at 25 cents each or they can bring a book they have finished and trade it in for another.
