The destruction of the 1918-vintage subway line beneath the World Trade Center gives the city a golden opportunity to rethink its capital improvements plans. Especially important are building the Second Ave subwway line, and a new Fulton Street terminal, now a tangled nexus of 17 different lines and modes.

Historical evidence of slavery in the North was uncovered in 1991 when skeletons were found in a colonial-era African burial ground. Slaves lived the 1800s farmhouse where ritual items used in their religious practices were also discovered.
