Playing their own toons
Article Abstract:
UK children's animation television networks are seeking ways to increase the level of home-made programmes which are on offer to UK viewers. The majority of animated programmes viewed in the UK are produced by US-based companies such as Disney and Nickelodeon, although increased investment in UK production facilities could influence stations to take more UK-produced cartoons. The international nature of animation make it an ideal medium to be transmitted in different languages, reducing costs and bringing in higher revenues.
