Indian critics of the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade feel that India will lose its economic sovereignty and the farmers will lose the right to determine food prices. The shift from process-based to product-based patents will dissuade farmers from modernizing, innovating and upgrading the quality of seeds used for agriculture.
