A number of medical, sociological and psychological, as well as environmental research, points out that having a single child would both be socially and environmentally advantageous for families globally. Not only would the child have more advantages in terms of development, but the practice can also offset the environmental effects of population growth.

Issues are presented concerning the safety of tampons. The testing of tampons for traces of asbestos and for the presence of dioxins used in the bleaching process is discussed. The labeling of the product is considered.
