The UK government sent a former girlfriend of Orwell's to the writer's deathbed to ask him to name Communist sympathizers. The individuals Orwell, an anti-Communist, discussed were all public figures. Orwell, who was not a McCarthyite, said nothing he had not said in public.

Thunder in the Black Mountains

The small, fierce republic of Montenegro is the last Balkan country to remain part of Slobodan Milosevic's Greater Serbia. It now seeks independence. Montenegro, whose name means Black Mountain, may be the site of the final Milosevic wars, after Bosnia and Kosovo.
