Peter and David Turnley started becoming interested in photography while working together on a high school sociology project. The two went on to become successful photojournalists, Peter working for Newsweek and David for the Detroit Free Press and Life. Their goal is to reveal diversity in life.

McCullin's photographs of India contrast sharply with the war photos for which he is famous. He began turning from war photography in the late 1970s toward more peaceful subjects. He is especially drawn to India's mystical festivals which he finds both thrilling and soothing.
