The 1998 Australian Constitutional Convention was an unexpected success, symbolizing democracy in action. The Democrats and the Labor Party had reservations about the event, but after the passage of the legislation, the public and the media realized the importance of such an event. The next convention should built on the 1998 convention by aiming for the involvement of the Australian people.
