Article Abstract:
Combat artist and World War II veteran Charles Waterhouse has created paintings that depict the bravery of his fellow soldiers and the ferocity of the fighting on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. He has also accompanied the US Marine Corps in its latter day involvements, particularly in Vietnam, to record its history in art.
