Harold McGee has successfully proven or disproven kitchen myths through experiments. Apparently, cooking myths persist because no one has ever really tested them. Through his experiments, McGee disproved the perceived advantages of searing meat and baking bread in brick ovens, among others.

Joshua Brown is one of five million Americans afflicted by obsessive-compulsive disorder. When having attacks, Brown often does repeats seemingly useless actions such as running and exercising. An analysis of the disorder as well as some of its possible causes is presented.
