The magic of majolica
Article Abstract:
Majolica, an earthenware pottery with a thick, glossy glaze that completely covers the clay dates back to the 13th or 14th century and has become one of the most sought-after collectibles. There are two kinds of Majolica that include tin glazed, which was made mostly in France and Italy from the 15th through the 19th centuries, and lead glazed, which was made in England, France, Germany, and America throughout the 19th century.

Bag Balm is a kind of ointment made for bovine udders which has been found to be also effective for dry skin. It is composed of a petroleum-based material called petrolatum, lanolin and an antiseptic. Despite being marketed as an animal ointment, many people used it to treat bedsores, saddle sores and dry skin.

A passionate legacy

The Shelburne Museum is a perfect place for people who want a glimpse of life in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum features more than 80,000 collections in 37 buildings. Some were donations of one of New England's famous collector and the museum's founder, Electra Havemeyer Webb.
