Time, the Times, and the spirit of the times: is the mainstream press becoming competition for alternative journalists?

The current trend in journalism today is that of the mainstream press slowly adopting the characteristics of alternative journalism. The two camps may help each other with the former voicing out the issues raised by the latter. Alternative journalists should also continue to focus on the grassroots level.

The new news vs. the old news

A comparison is made between the old and new ways of news delivery. The old method is criticized for leaving out important details which influence people's daily lives. This void is filled, however, by the alternative press which represents the 'new' news.
