Valley of the dammed: journey to the stupidest construction site on earth
Article Abstract:
China built dams on the Yangtze in the early 1950s that were broken in 1975 by the river. In 1993, China began working on another dam, the Three Gorges Dam, which will be the biggest dam built. Many oppose it because of its environmental and human ecological and its cost outweighs its benefits.

Article Abstract:
Hydroelectric dams are the cheapest source of electricity and they provide 10% of the country's energy needs. However, the electricity these dams generate is offset by the often irreversible ecological damage they create. The drowning of Glen Canyon in the Colorado River is a glaring example.
