A peacenik goes to war: as German's Foreign Minister, Joschka Fischer vociferously defends the very policies he once denounced, infuriating the fundamentalists in his own Green Party
Article Abstract:
German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer has moved away from his Green Party's traditional pro-peace philosophy with his support for the NATO bombing campaign in Kosovo. At a party meeting, he managed to convince the majority of members to support a moderate resolution recognizing the need for military intervention to stop Serb atrocities against ethnic Albanians. How Fischer has been able to sustain one of the most successful careers of any German politician can be seen in his determination to reinvent himself by adapting to changing political trends.

The report looks at arrivals between 1990 to 1994, major gateway airports and travel patterns, including the Hajj pilgrimage, an important Muslim event. It looks at transport and accommodation in detail and considers future prospects for tourism in the country.
