What rural is: fifteen ways of being in the country
Article Abstract:
Being in the country means working hard for lower than minimum wage. It also means knowing the land, but being happy when one lands a job in the city. Rural can also mean seeing the ravages of environmental degradation. It also means endangering one's life with all those machineries and farm chemicals, and hitting cows while driving at night in the dark.
