Anecdotal government
Article Abstract:
The policy choices in California's $66 billion budget for 1997-98 rely more on anecdotes rather than complex policies, such as comparative studies and econometric models. In the State of the State speech, Governor Pete Wilson avoided the question of the employment of 700,000 welfare recipients by focusing on a welfare recipient, Trish Molina, who got employment long ago. Wilson also wrongly informed that enough job training slots and child care services exist for job seekers. The governor avoided questions regarding education and economy.
