District-by-district analysis: state Senate
Article Abstract:
The 1992 senatorial race in California did not bring much change to the composition of the upper house. Previously, the Democrats held 24 seats, the Republicans, 13 and the independents 2, with one vacancy. After the elections, the Democrats emerged with 22 seats, the Republicans stood at 13, the two independents remained and three districts became vacant. These vacancies will be filled-up in special elections to be held early in 1993.
