Integrating audio adds deterrent value to other security systems
Article Abstract:
Audio is a useful addition to CCTV or access control systems to prevent loitering or unlawful activity in a remote site. According to Gerry Teudt, senior product line manager at Sensormatics Electronics' Video Products Division in Boca Raton, FL, audio is integrated about 50% of the time with access control systems. Integration with CCTV is less than 10% while integration with fire systems is less than five percent. Usually audio is fully integrated with CCTV systems for the detention market. Teudt also said that audio listen-in capabilities are usually integrated in remote video monitoring, or video alarm verification.

EAS progress: Move to office corridors
Article Abstract:
The use of artificial surveillance or EAS systems are expanding into office corridors as a way of access control while tracking corporate assets. EAS systems are also gaining ground in source tagging, where EAS vendors, product makers, trade groups, retailers and packagers fight for presence in a source tagging world. Sensormatic Electronics Corp. of Boca Raton, FL, for example, was chosen as the exclusive provider of EAS systems by Giant Eagle Markets Co. of Pittsburgh, PA. Giant Eagle will install UltraMax technology in all its Pittsburgh Operating Division's stores.
