Finite duration of unemployment insurance, reservation wages and participation in the job market
Article Abstract:
An analysis describing the impact of unemployment insurance on worker decisions involving employment and labor market participation is presented. The analysis employs a job search model which ascribes uncertain duration and uemployment benefits for unemployed workers. It is shown that when the insurance's incentive and disincentive effects are separated, variations in insurance plans exhibit an influence on reservation wages and worker decisions.

Policy equilibria in a federal system: the effects of higher tax ceilings for unemployment insurance
Article Abstract:
Modelled changes in the parameters of the state unemployment insurance (UI) system, such as increasing UI tax, were used to study the effect of policy changes by higher levels in the federal system. The modelled change, which has an effect on lower-level policy system but no effect on the local outcome, can be extended to study responses at the lower levels of government to superior-government mandate.
