How strong is co-movement in employment over the business cycle? Evidence from state/sector data
Article Abstract:
The strength of co-movement in employment across different states and units over the business cycle is gauged. The facts gathered from states and units reflect that there is more unity in a particular unit across states, than across separate units inside one state.

The results of the findings presented by Coulson[9] shows that, vast majority of industrial employment growth variations arises from metropolitan statistical areas (MSA), specific government, manufacturing and service employment sector.

Nonparametric employment subcenter identification

To identify urban employment sub centers, a two-stage nonparametric procedure is proposed. Sub centers are treated as statistical concept by the two-stage procedure.
